The List

Cold weather style heroes (because you know… all the walks), gift-worthy accessories and the prettiest festive wreath for your front door. November, you aren’t too bad so far. Just don’t mention the L word. * cry face*

From left to right;

  • Leather boots, £190, ARKET

A sturdy leather boot that holds its own for muddy park walks but wouldn’t look out of place at work or on your daily school/coffee/lunch run.

  •  Jumpsuit, £315, Frankie Shop at Net a Porter

I have been looking at this jumpsuit on and off for over a year now, and I still love it. It will work with boots and layered over a roll neck in winter, and with flat sandals and rolled up sleeves in summer. Now I just have to hope it goes into sale.

  •  Cashmere hat, £45, COS

Neutral outerwear makes sense because it’s usually a pricey investment, so it’s smart to ensure it’s versatile. But sometimes you just crave colour, and that’s where accessories come in. This neon cashmere hat is the perfect counterpart to a black, beige or khaki coat, and would make a great gift too.

  • Wreath, £95, Grace and Thorn

I was surprised with one of these as a gift last year and I couldn’t get over a) how beautiful it was and b) how it made me smile every single time I walked up to my front door. Sometimes it’s the small things that make a difference to how you feel, and this is definitely one of those times. Yes it’s expensive, but it looked brand new for a whole 6 weeks.

  • Down coat, £225, Arket

Duvet coats, they’re a thing. Now that the majority of our socialising is done in the great outdoors it doesn’t pay to compromise on warmth in favour of style. The oversized silhouette and exaggerated long length here is key- If it’s too fitted or cropped at the knee you might feel more frumpy than fashion-forward.

  •  Le Bois Candle, £42, Maison Balzac at Maison Curate

I discovered the Australian owned Maison Balzac a few years ago while visiting family and it quickly became a firm favourite, and dare I say rival for my beloved Diptyque. The fragrances are earthy and strong enough to fill a room, (but not overpowering) and the opaque glass containers make excellent makeup brush/pen pots when the wax is long gone. Best of all they are now stocked online at Maison Curate, one of my favourite bricks and mortar homeware stores.

  •  Organic Cotton top, £29, &Other Stories

It’s about that time of year when a short sleeved tee just doesn’t cut it anymore as a layering piece. This organic cotton style has  lightly padded shoulders to give it a more structured shape but is still relaxed enough to throw on with your favourite jeans.

  • 9kt Solid gold Zodiac stud, £59, Otiumberg

Well isn’t this the perfect present if ever I saw one? Personal, made to last, and under £60. Tick. I guess everyone who knows me knows what they’re getting for their next birthday then…

  • Wool tailored trousers, £185, Me + Em

For me, the perfect pair of trousers has to work with both trainers and boots, and be versatile enough to be dressed up or down. They also have to be really flattering, because if I don’t feel good in them, I know from experience they’ll sit unworn in my wardrobe. Enter these tailored trousers from British brand Me + Em. They’re not cheap, but if they tick all the boxes then I know I’ll wear them for years to come.

  •  Large chequered rug (160cm x230cm) , £275, French Connection Home

Is it just me, or is it getting increasingly hard to find nice rugs that the whole world doesn’t already own and that are also affordable? French Connection have a limited but really nice edit of rugs at the moment, including this chequered style in a lovely warm colour palette.  I’m sure it won’t be long before they are the rug of the moment, but at least you can sit safe in the knowledge that you got there first…

  •  Wool sweater, £89.99, Zara

Finding high-quality knitwear on the high street is all about seeking out the styles that are 100% wool. While the price is admittedly expensive for Zara, it will last you much longer than the usual few months. This one  is a great wardrobe basic, and is coming back into stock in more sizes, just make sure you sign up to be notified by email.

  •  Denim Apron, £17.99, H&M

I’ve never owned an apron before, so I can’t quite explain my pre-occupation with this denim one from H&M, but I just love it! I nearly bought it last Christmas but decided it was a bit pointless, and I’ve regretted it ever since. It’s only £17, and I definitely waste more than that amount weekly buying coffee and pastry so I don’t know why I haven’t just bought it yet. *adds to basket*
